I'm Chad Augeson — a lifelong rugby player and experienced coach who has spent more than 30 years inside the American rugby system as both an athlete and educator.
Over three decades, I've played the game, studied how it is taught, and coached athletes at every stage of development — from elementary PE classes encountering rugby for the first time, to high school select sides, to competitive adult clubs. My teams have consistently demonstrated strong fundamentals, smart decision-making, and measurable improvement across seasons, reflecting a coaching philosophy built on clarity, progression, and repeatable skill development.
As founder of Learn Rugby Minnesota!, I introduced rugby to more than 3,000 students through school partnerships, youth programs, and professional development workshops for physical education teachers. I've presented at PE conferences, collaborated with educators, and developed curriculum specifically designed to make rugby accessible, safe, and easy to implement within existing PE standards.
Today, I work with youth athletes and teams in Sarasota, Florida, while building Hits Like a Six to support PE teachers, schools, and youth programs nationwide. HL6 lessons are built from real-world coaching experience — structured, progressive, and designed specifically for students who have never held a rugby ball before. Every session emphasizes safety, engagement, and confidence-building so teachers can introduce the sport successfully on day one.
